The above link is to a JD Supra article by Hanson Bridgett LLP regarding the expiration (FINALLY!!) to the Eviction Moratorium. The Moratorium will expire at midnight on September 1, 2020. That means that as of September 2, 2020, we will once again be able to file Unlawful Detainer Summons and Complaints. However, please make sure you read this whole article. Some counties have imposed their own moratoria on evictions, and this vote by the Judicial Council of California is in direct contradiction to Governor Newsom's executive order which has an Eviction Moratorium through September 28, 2020.

Also, please note that due to the backlog of cases from the near five-month moratorium, there will be a large number of lawsuits being filed at once. It's gonna be crazy!
